Geek grafities

A graffiti tool that can be programmed to roll your grafities on the wall (or anywhere)!

"This simple Hello Nametag device replicates a common mode of self-labeling found in stranger-filled situations like business conferences and reapplies them to objects in the public realm. Programmed to speak the name of any desired urban furniture these can be stuck to virtually any surface and invite interaction by passers by." source: weburbanist.com

Best of GRL

From the people who brought you the Led throwies, here is a recap of other laser light graffiti projects:

"Our homies over at Graffiti Research Lab (GRL) founded by Evan Roth and James Powderly, show Miami and Antikulture what open source technologies for urban communication can do for artists in this video documenting some sick laser graffiti during this year’s GEN ART Vanguard Art Fair.
Directed by Francesco LoCastro, this footage is not only unique (we'll never think of good ol' laser tag games in the same way) but it raises some questions about the legality of public art. Can laser graffiti be considered vandalism? This cop sure thinks so…"

Conductive Stuff!

Hum, this post is mostly for Chantal's information, but anyone may benefit from it.

Chantal wanted to use conductive paint on her canvases. As opposed to using lead+ paint which = danger & death, i found these options

http://www.lessemf.com/paint.html (this site is for slow-witted individuals afraid of magnetic shields and what not. disregard their information aside from the price and sizes. )

I suggest this

SUPER SHIELD

Reduce or Eliminate EMI / RFI Interference

Super Shield A general purpose EMI/RFI shielding in a handy aerosol spray for use on most substrates. Especially good for RF shielding plastic electronics enclosures. Consists of a tough, durable acrylic base pigmented with a high purity nickel flake. One to two mil coating provides 40dB - 50dB shielding across a frequency range of 5 to 1800MHz. About 1600 in²/can coverage at 1.5 mil. Contains no CFC's, NO HCFC's, ozone friendly. 340g (12 oz) aerosol can. Dries to a dull gray color. Click to see MSDS

  • Surface Resistivity ~0.7 Ohm/sq
  • Dry time: 10 minutes at room temperature
  • Recoat time: 5 minutes
  • Excellent adhesion to most plastics
  • Tested as per IEEE Std. 299-1997
  • Underwriters Laboratories Recognized File No.: E202609
  • NO CFC 'S, NO HCFC'S, Ozone Friendly
  • RoHS Compliant
Flammable aerosol, ships by ground only.

Super Shield (Cat. #A285) ….................................... $31.95 add to cart

because of price vs conductivity.

Silver paint would be also great but a tiny jar is 30$

peeling away the layers

This chair gaves me the «déclic » for my manifesto.

«Designed by Nendo for the XXIst Century Man exhibition curated by Issey Miyake, the cabbage chair is made out of the pleated paper that is produced in mass amounts during the process of making pleated fabric. This paper is usually abandoned as an unwanted by-product.

The cabbage chair is created by peeling away the layers of a roll of pleated paper one layer at a time. Resins are added during the original paper production process to add strength. Since the production process is so simple, the chair could be shipped as one compact roll for the user to cut open and peel back at home.»
